Caco-2 Cell Line

The Caco-2 cell line was taken from the colon cells of a 72-year-old Caucasian male who had colorectal adenocarcinoma. Caco-2 cells have epithelial morphological characteristics and exhibit adherent cultural properties. Caco-2 cells are suitable transfection hosts, and a Caco-2 Transfection Reagent to transfect Caco-2 cells can be purchased from Altogen Biosystems for the study of colon cancer. The Caco-2 cell line is known to differentiate rapidly and be vulnerable to human immunodeficiency virus 1. Caco-2 products include keratin, retinol binding protein 2, and retinoic acid binding protein 1.
